A healthcare professional by training, Eugene believes in the importance of having a responsible and credible opposition in Parliament to check on the ruling party and an active citizenry to partake in the nation-building process. In spite of his often strident criticisms of the government and the current deficiencies in the electoral process, he concurs with the establishment stance that getting elected into Parliament remains the only viable and feasible way to effect a change in the status quo though he does not dismiss the effectiveness of other extra-parliamentary measures such as non-violent action and civil disobedience.

Lim Siow Kuan, Malaysian Correspondent

Born in Muar, Johor, Siow Kuan’s political activism was ignited during the reformasi movement in 1998 where he was an active volunteer with the Democratic Action Party (DAP). After obtaining his B.A. (political science) from Monash University, Australia, he came to Singapore where he worked as a risk analyst in a consultancy film. Through his frequent writings here, Siow Kuan hopes to keep Malaysians living in Singapore updated on the political situation across the causeway.

Fang Zhi Yuan, Senior writer

A founding member of this blog,  and a fervent liberal and democrat, Zhi Yuan advocates for a complete reform of the present political system. He has no intention of joining a political party at the moment, preferring to contribute in whatever small ways he can as an armchair critic. An engineer by training, he now works as a researcher in a MNC.
